Now onboarding a small first group of pros in Orlando, Winter Park, Winter Garden, MetroWest and Dr. Phillips.
Soft launch: jobs will start soon, not immediately
HomePilot is in a soft launch in Orlando. That means we are signing up and verifying our first group of pros now, before we send customers in volume. Jobs will start soon, but not immediately, and we cannot promise how many jobs you will get or exactly when your first one will arrive. Signing up now gets you verified and ready, so you are in the first group offered jobs when they begin.
Choose your jobs and your schedule
You run your own business. HomePilot gives you jobs to consider, not shifts to work. You decide what to claim
Claiming a job is optional. Declining or ignoring an offer never lowers your standing.Ten minutes to say yes
When a matching job is offered, you have 10 minutes to claim it before it can go to other pros.Your skills, your area
Pick the skills you want from our handyman skills list. You are offered jobs that match what you chose. Not exclusive
You can work for others and on other platforms. You use your own tools and set your own working hours.Payments you can see before you claim a job
- Deposit first. Every job you claim has a customer deposit already paid through the app.
- Full transparency. For every job you see the full job price, your share and HomePilot’s fee before you claim it.
- We earn when you do. HomePilot takes its fee only from completed jobs.
- Weekly payouts. After the customer approves the finished job in the app, you are paid through Stripe, weekly. The pay period runs Friday to Friday, and your bank may add a few business days.
- Taxes. You are responsible for your own taxes. HomePilot issues a Form 1099-NEC for payouts that meet the IRS reporting threshold.
How to get started: onboarding step by step
Here is exactly what happens when you register, so there are no surprises.
- Create your free account. Sign up at app.thehomepilot.org and accept the Pro Terms. There is no fee.
- Verify your identity. You confirm who you are with Persona, our identity-verification partner (government ID and a selfie). HomePilot does not store your ID images, selfies or full SSN.
- Set up payouts. You connect a bank account through Stripe and give your tax number (SSN or EIN) to Stripe for tax reporting.
- Add a profile photo. A clear, current photo of you alone, face visible. Homeowners see your first name and photo so they know who is coming to their home. Our system must approve it before you can claim jobs.
- Choose your skills and area. Select the handyman skills you offer.
- Get offered jobs. When jobs open in your area, matching jobs are offered to you. You have 10 minutes to claim an offer. On the job, you take before and after photos in the app, and you are paid weekly after the customer approves the work.
Start step 1: create your free pro account
Because we are in a soft launch, finishing steps 1 to 5 does not mean a job arrives the same day. It means you are ready when jobs are offered.

The fine print, up front
- All payments go through the app. Do not ask for or accept cash, Zelle, Venmo or any other payment outside the app for a HomePilot job, or for a follow-up job with the same customer within 1 year of your last HomePilot job together.
- Customers you meet through HomePilot stay HomePilot customers for 1 year after your last job with them.
- Missed jobs have consequences. If you do not arrive and have not released the job, the customer gets a full refund, and repeated no-shows lead to pauses and, after the fourth, removal. Releasing a job early in the app has no penalty.
- Pros are not employees. You are an independent business responsible for your own taxes, tools and helpers.
- You must stay within handyman scope. HomePilot may cancel or reassign any job that may need a license or permit.
- Read the full Pro Terms before you claim any job: https://app.thehomepilot.org/pro/terms
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about signing up, getting jobs and getting paid.
Do I pay for leads or to join?
No. You never pay to see, receive or claim a job, and there is no fee to create a pro account. HomePilot takes its fee only from jobs that are completed.
When will I get my first job?
We are in a soft launch, so jobs will start soon, not immediately. We are onboarding a first group of pros in Orlando now so you are verified and ready when jobs are offered. We cannot promise how many jobs you will get or when the first one will arrive.
How do I sign up and what does onboarding involve?
Create a free pro account and accept the Pro Terms. Then verify your identity with Persona, set up payouts with Stripe, upload a clear profile photo and choose your skills. Most people finish in one sitting if they have their ID, bank details and tax number (SSN or EIN) ready.
How and when do I get paid?
After the customer approves the finished job in the app, your payout is sent through Stripe, weekly. The pay period runs Friday to Friday, and your bank may add a few business days. If a customer disputes a job or files a chargeback, HomePilot may hold the related payout until it is resolved.
What do I earn on a job?
On every job you see the full job price, your share and HomePilot’s fee before you claim it. A customer deposit is already paid in the app before a job is offered to you.
Do I choose which jobs I take?
Yes. Claiming a job is always optional. When you get an offer you have 10 minutes to claim it, and declining or ignoring an offer never lowers your standing. Once you claim a job, you commit to the day and arrival window shown. Missed jobs have consequences, which are explained in the Pro Terms.
Can I work on other platforms or take my own customers?
Yes, you can work for others and on other platforms. The one exception is customers you meet through HomePilot: for 1 year after your last HomePilot job with a customer, you agree not to take that customer’s work outside the app, and all payments for those jobs go through the app.
Do I need a license or insurance?
HomePilot is for minor handyman work. Electrical, plumbing, gas, HVAC, roofing, structural and permitted work, and jobs of $2,500 or more, need a Florida license, and those jobs are offered only to pros with a verified license. General liability insurance is recommended but not required at launch.
Does HomePilot run background checks?
Not yet. Identity verification is required for every pro. If we add background checks later, we will ask for your separate consent first, as federal law requires.
Am I a HomePilot employee, and what about taxes?
No. You run your own independent business. You decide whether to claim a job, how to do the work and when to work, and you are responsible for your own taxes, tools and transportation. HomePilot issues a Form 1099-NEC for payouts that meet the IRS reporting threshold.
